Suma’s chickpeas are one of the most popular beans at Evergreen. Chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans, are a delicious, nutty flavoured bean. They are most commonly used to make hummus, falafels and curries but also make an excellent addition to a number of dishes including salads, stews and casseroles. Chickpeas are very nutritious, particularly for vegetarians and vegans because of their high protein content. They are also a good source of manganese, folate, copper, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Just 2-3 tablespoons of Suma’s chickpeas count as one of your five a day recommended fruit and vegetable intake. These beans are so easy to prepare, simply drain and rinse and enjoy!
